Squash the Squat Challenge
This comprehensive 30-day program will help improve mobility and increase performance by teaching your body how to integrate and utilize key muscles in one of the most functional movements, the squat!
Learning to properly activate appropriate muscles during functional movements will help eliminate muscle imbalance related injuries and pain in neighboring joints such as low back and knees. Additionally, integrating certain muscle activations can improve performance as you utilize more efficient use of force. Each week will take you from initiating muscle activation, to integrating it in movement, then upping the challenge by increasing strength, stability, and/or complexity. The workouts are easily scalable to adjust for experience level. (See the video below for more info on this challenge and why we chose the squat for our first challenge.)
This program requires the use of:
- Foam roller
- Flat band
- Tube band
- Hand weight (anything can be used for this such as 2 water bottles, cans, etc. This is a light weight just to get in the habit of holding something in your hands)
